The Doberman Pinscher is part of the working group. The breed was developed by Karl Friedrich Louis Dobermann a tax colletcor, in the 1880s. He wanted a dog to guard him whilst he was working. It is believed he cross bred Rottweillers, German Pinschers, Weimaraners and possible Manchester Terriers. There are undoubtedly, the best guard dog in existence. They are intelligent, alert, obedient and loyal. Diligent breeding has improved the temperament of the breed. They can make an excellent family dog if trained properly. They are energetic and lively and will usually only ever attack if provoked.
