Dalmation
The Dalmatian is an ancient breed, believed to date back to 2000BC, where they were depicted on Greek friezes and tablets, working with the chariots of ancient Greece, Rome and Egypt. There are early records of the breed, found in Dalmatia, Croatia, hence the name. They have been used as dogs of war, for border patrols, cart pullers, sheep herders, hunting dogs, performers and coaching dogs. They have also worked with horses since the Middle Ages. Because of their range of uses, they are considered to be part of the utility group. They are intelligent and extremely affectionate dogs. They are also outgoing, with little nervousness or aggression. However, they can tend to be hyper if they are not trained and disciplined from an early age. They are dedicated and loyal so make ideal family pets. Most Dalmation puppies are born white, their spots develop after a couple of weeks. Their lifespan is considered to be 12-14 years.Make sure that you have adequate dog insurance to cover these things - they are more common than most people might think.
