?Boston Terrier
Whether your buying a new dog or simply looking for a shelter that will help you adopt a new pet, Insurance4Britain.com is the place to look for all your pet and pet insurance needs.
This little terrier is a part of the utility group, originally bred as ratters. The Boston was, in the 1800?s, originally a cross between the English Bulldog and the English White Terrier.
After further cross breeding, it became more developed. The breeds used included the English Bull Terrier, Boxer and the Pit Bull Terrier. They are lively, sometimes boisterous dogs, but intelligent and strong willed. They are easy to train and obedient.
They are good with children and make good family dogs. They love to play, but they are easily injured, especially around the eyes. They thrive on human company and are affectionate in return. They are also loyal and protective so they make good guard dogs. Early socialisation is advised for other pets.
The Boston requires little grooming but reasonable exercise. Their lifespan is considered to be 9-15 years.
