Whether your buying a new dog or simply looking for a shelter that will help you adopt a new pet, Insurance4Britain.com is the place to look for all your pet and pet insurance needs.
The Bloodhound belongs to the hound group. It is also the largest and most powerful of all of the hounds. They were first used as a tracking dog and are still used by some police, prison and military groups to track humans.
They originated from the monastery of St Huberts in the Ardennes in 687AD and were bred to track wolves, big cats or deer. When the Normans invaded England in 1066AD they introduced them and they became the Bloodhounds.
They are sensitive and affectionate dogs. They do tend to be stubborn, so patience is needed for training. They are gentle-natured, so are usually good with children and other pets. They are also friendly and loyal dogs but not the best as a guard dog. They thrive on human contact but do not enjoy being alone, they can become noisy if left unattended. They require little grooming. Their lifespan is considered to be 10-12 years.
